Bayer Schering IND Filing Triggers Milestones

Bayer Schering Pharma AG has filed to initiate a Phase I trial of MN-IC, an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) for oncology

Bayer Schering Pharma AG has filed to initiate a Phase I trial of MN-IC, an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) for oncology. The move triggers milestone payments to MorphoSys AG and Seattle Genetics. Terms of the payments were not disclosed, but a MorphoSys statement referred to it as “significant.”

Bayer Schering licensed Seattle Genetics’ ADC technology with antibodies against target molecule MN, also known as carbonic anhydrase, a tumor-associated antigen expressed in many tumor types under hypoxic conditions. The antibody component of the treatment is derived from MorphoSys’ HuCal technology.
